If you can’t tell, we really love a good camp wedding. From Camp Indie Wed to weddings at Camp Wandawega (Deanna + Paul’s, Elena + Ken’s, Rachel + Mike’s and Lindsey + Bobby’s to name just a few…), we just love anything that has to do with camping. So, when Laura’s little one turned one, she just couldn’t resist inviting guests to join them at Camp Henry!
Laura knew a camp-themed birthday party would need a lot of DIY details to really carry the theme home – especially since Camp Henry was located on the south side of Chicago and not in the north woods. So, she pulled out her trusty glue gun, raided her closets and got to work.
First, she found out that she had a hidden talent for hand-lettering when she created all of camp banners and directional signage. Then she finally found a use for the Adirondack frames, birch bark stumps and piles of flannel she’s been hoarding for years. But the highlight of the event had to be the killer custom cakes and cookies from Elysia Root Cakes. They knocked it out of the park! In the end, we love how it all turned out and know the birthday boy did too.
