It was early June when Sarah + Michael had their wedding at the Quadrangle Club. Laura took charge of coordinating their day and we both agree they deserve the “chillest couple of all time” award. It was nearly unbelievable how relaxed and easygoing they were through the entire planning process and on the day of their most glorious wedding. Take for example the photo below, have you ever seen anything more stunning? I dare think not.
It’s that time of year again. Dust off the patio furniture and light up those tiki torches. Inside the glossy pages of the June 2013 issue of Marie Claire magazine, I plan your summer soiree for you! Dig that coconut bra and grass skirt out because you’re having a tiki party and it’s going to be the most fun. Invite me why don’t you? xo, AE

Look at me go, blogging away these days. I thought you might like to see these invitations I made for Megan’s bridal shower. She is an artist at heart and we played off of that for her party. I also got to whip out the watercolors for this one, which hasn’t happened since at least 1998, so that was fun. And yes, I did borrow some paint swatches from Home Depot, but I bet someone going to this party will be inspired to paint their powder room blush. I found a little quote that I used at the bottom, “art and love are the same thing: it’s the process of seeing yourself in things that are not you.” So true. xo
So I have this friend who is a twin. We met in second grade, well, I actually met her twin sister Lindsey because Lindsey was in my class. I didn’t even know there was another one when I did the unthinkable: I invited Lindsey but not Melissa to my second grade birthday party. In my defense (besides the defense where I didn’t know she existed) who invites people to their birthday parties when they have never met? Needless to say, my birthday party was killer and she never got over it. Luckily, she has let me spend the past 25 or so years making up for it.
So when she found out she was expecting, you know I got on that like white on rice. Take a little look-see at the invitations that I made for her baby shower. Hank’s nursery has an alphabet/ transportation theme and Melissa painted an incredible mural on one of the walls, so I used that as my inspiration. Behold: B is for boy.
A week ago today my dear friend Janessa held a grand opening party for her new flower shop Forget Me Knodt. I had the pleasure of coordinating for her and spent the day in the store getting it prepped for the literally hundreds of guests who showed up, packed the store and poured out onto the sidewalk. Everyone I talked to that night kept commenting on how many people showed up (in the pouring rain, no less) to show their support for Janessa, so you know she’s obviously going to be a super successful megastar.
The lovely folks from Fig Catering brought in delicious snacks and an amazing Forget Me Knodt cocktail garnished with a fresh flower that everyone had at least four of. Neil Dixon Smith provided some tunes that sounded amazing even though I crammed him onto a stool in the corner and Janessa’s friends at Baker & Nosh sent over delicious desserts.
As I am wont to do, I hitched a bit of my wagon to her shooting star. She placed the very first wholesale order from Bad Loo Loo and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic about it. I really can’t believe that an adorable boutique like hers carries my prints, pillows, mugs and tea towels. It’s starting to make me think….
I’m lucky to know such a wonderful person who I get to work with and also call my friend. Congrats on your amazing success Janessa and I really can’t wait to see what’s in store for you next. Hopefully a day off and a very long nap! xo
