classic indian-inspired wedding invitations

Clever title, eh?  Well, hopefully you believe us now that we have, in fact, been busy. Want to see the latest edition to the Anticipation Events paper tome? Jerry & Nivi’s wedding invitations were monsters.  Perhaps it has something to do with the 600+ people they are inviting to the big day.  Perhaps because they are having a Hindu ceremony and a Catholic ceremony followed by an enormous Polasian (that’s Polish/South Asian for those of you not familiar with my knack for smushing words together to make better ones) extravaganza.  Perhaps it is because they are awesome.

Each sweet little monster started out innocently enough.  An unassuming little silver envelope:DIY invitations

Inside each envelope, an invitation to the Hindu ceremony in the morning, the Catholic ceremony in the afternoon and their evening reception:DIY invitationsAlso inside the envelope, another envelope.  This envelope to be exact:DIY invitations

Details. You know, all of them. I hand punched tags out of silver card stock and tied them around the envelope with navy and white bakers twine. Untie the bow and you’ll find…

Transportation and directions cards printed on vellum paper and attached in the corner with a brad. An RSVP envelope and two RSVP cards: one for the Hindu ceremony and lunch reception and one for the Catholic ceremony and the evening reception!DIY invitationsA monster I tell you. A beautiful little monster.DIY invitations

modern handmade wedding invitations

Well we’ve been busy ’round here.  Check out Whitney & John’s wedding invites that have been sent to their guests.  We hear the RSVP’s are pouring in – no one would dare miss this shindig!

We letterpressed the entire suite which included the invitation, accommodations information and RSVP card and envelope.  I think you might be able to guess what the inspiration for the invite was. We mounted the invite on silver card stock and then mounted the whole thing to a dark grey pocketfold.

Their colors are navy, spring green and a hint of pink (just a hint, John).  So we pulled each one in for one of the pieces to add some serious fun to this classy day.

& Whitney & John (& also Duke!) lived happily ever after.  If she’s nice to me, I might let her borrow that ampersand for the big day.  And if YOU’RE nice to me, I’ll show you the bachelorette party and bridal shower invitations I made for her.

DIY save-the-dates ideas we love

So to follow-up with my last blog post about save-the-dates, I thought I would post the other save-the-date ideas I had saved in my “paper” folder as inspiration.  I have bombed on tracking the sources, but hopefully they’ll inspire you.  Happy crafting!

award winning chicago and destination wedding planners

Yay!  Hooray!  We won!  Okay, it’s not like we ran a marathon or even accepted the Bachelor’s final rose, but we’re so thrilled to receive the Bride’s Choice Awards for 2011 from WeddingWire!  It means we’re in the top 5% of wedding planners nationwide and more importantly, it means our brides (and grooms!) are happy with the work we do for them.  And we feel so lucky to be able to do it!  Looking forward to another fantastic year.

intimate chicago wedding at a new leaf

So you already know that Elizabeth & Mike got married.  And that it was a glorious, intimate Chicago wedding at A New Leaf.  But you need details!  And pictures!  And fluffy clouds and rainbows!  So here you go….day of wedding coordinator

It all started with a little yellow pair of shoes at The Sofitel downtown.day of wedding coordinator

Elizabeth got a finishing touch on her veil before seeing her groom for the first time while Mike got all spruced up and ready for his bride.day of wedding coordinator

So Elizabeth picked up that gorgeous train and hailed a cab instead.

A photo shoot downtown occurred, until that pesky “day-of” timeline insisted that they stop and come get married already!  So they walked away until these guys insisted on one more song…

Mike and Elizabeth had one last quiet moment together alone…

It was time…

and just like that, they did it!day of wedding coordinator

Elizabeth’s sister (and Maid of Honor) Katie, gave a hilarious toast to the newlyweds.

They shared some cake, a dance and some quiet time in the ribbon room before the party ended and they jetted off to Italy for their honeymoon.

It just could not have been easier or more fun working with these two incredible people.  To Mike & Elizabeth, I loved being “the other Elizabeth” in your lives during the ups and downs of wedding planning. Seeing it all come together for you on this day was beyond rewarding.  While my in-box felt strangely empty after it was all over, I am so grateful to know that I will be seeing you again at another Lindner extravaganza in 2011!  In the meantime, may your sandwiches never have mayo, your stockings be full of sauerkraut and your glasses full of mojito! (You truly won’t regret it.)
