timeless vintage wedding at st. ignatius college prep

Usually, January is a slow month for us, but man! It may have been cold in Chicago, but it was a hotbed of activity at Anticipation Events! We rounded out the month with Sarah + Elliott’s timeless, yet vintage wedding that we just couldn’t love any more.

Sarah + Elliott both grew up in Chicago, so they knew they had to get married here and wanted a wedding that was as classic Chicago as it possibly could be. They wanted the wedding to feel like they were hosting it at home, so they chose to have the ceremony at Holy Family Church and the reception right next door at Sarah’s alma mater, St. Ignatius College Prep. But, of course, the day started with everyone getting ready at Public Chicago before heading out for some of the sweetest first look photos ever.

Next up, Sarah + Elliott headed to the church for their ceremony. With their siblings by their side in the wedding party, nephews as ring bearers and Elliott’s cousins serving as the “house party” to greet guests as they arrived at the church, they were ready to say, “I do!”

While Sarah + Elliott were walking down the aisle, we hustled off to the reception to finish the final touches on every little detail Sarah put together. And when you have as many details as they did, you need a coordinator to make it all come together! Sarah wanted a timeless wedding with a vintage feel and was inspired by Kate Spade and the fun sophistication of the brand. A winter wedding calls for lots of colors and textures and she was definitely up to the task! Starting with the jewel toned bridesmaids’ dresses, velvet ties and blazers, and faux fur jackets, the wedding party set the tone in the most festive way. The invitations and day of goods by Emily at Dashwood Shop and the winter wildflower arrangements by Steuber Florist & Greenhouse (in Sarah and her mom’s collection of vases!) really brought it all together. But the details weren’t the only impressive part of this wedding… Not only did the band kill it, but Sarah surprised Elliott (and everyone else!) by singing their song, “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”, while being backed up by the band. She really can do it all.
