There couldn’t have been a more perfect venue to have this spring wedding than North Pond in Lincoln Park. To complement the beautiful space, we drew inspiration from the art deco and art nouveau movement and incorporated design elements to highlight the natural beauty outside.

hi.

what radicalized me was two-fold. growing up in the catholic church did really fasten the idea of “doing unto others” to this bag of bones. as an adult when i re-evaluated and left behind many of the other ideologies, the things i took with me were easy to pack: kindness, love, prioritizing the needs of the most vulnerable.

the other thing was travel. If you are lucky enough to be able to cross borders and see places so unlike your own, you can’t help but be faced with your privledge, your smallness, our interconnectedness, and the meaning of mercy.

i’m grateful to always come back to chicago. a midwesterner for my entire life, i have never been more proud than in the last months and years as we all try to hold the country and our communities together. what ICE is doing is reprehensible. whether you are donating, protesting, calling your reps, recording for history, going on strike, or making art: thank you. it revives hope that there are so many of us who stand together.
