eclectic, vintage wedding at thalia hall

Shine bright like Ruk + Matt! Last winter, when Ruk + Matt got married at Thalia Hall, it may have been dreary and cold in Chicago, but you wouldn’t know it by look at their bright and colorful wedding. With the most amazing vendor team and the coolest clients out there this January wedding was one hell of a way to kick off our 2016 wedding season.

Ruk + Matt’s wedding was the perfect combination of everything about them – traditional, colorful, vintage, hip, and one big ball of fun, starting with their mehndi ceremony at a friend’s house.

The next day was the big one. Ruk + Matt got ready and took their first look photos at Thalia Hall. On the most auspicious day, with a cake on every table, they flew in their favorite YouTube performer, donned their fancy clothes and partied all night long. Truly, this is a great example of the living the Anticipation Events brand.

Ceremonies on stage bring the best kind of drama. Nothing but gorgeousness with that flower canopy created by Fleur?! I mean, come on with your ridiculous beauty. Can we plan this wedding every weekend?

Following the ceremony, guests had cocktails on the balcony while we flipped the room for dinner and dancing. Ruk + Matt are one of the sweetest, kindest couples we have ever had the pleasure of working with, and everything about this wedding was so much YES.

classic downtown wedding at howells & hood

Angeline + Roman no longer live in Chicago, so for their wedding they wanted a classic Chicago experience where their guests could enjoy the best the city has to offer. With a ceremony at Holy Family Church and reception at Howells & Hood in the Tribune Building, their wedding delivered just that!

chicago wedding planner

Angeline + Roman got ready just over the river from their reception venue at the Hyatt Regency Chicago before heading out to take a few photos around downtown. We love that Taz Luto from Heather DeCamp Photography did such a great job of capturing their laughs in these photos! Angeline + Roman were having a blast and it shows!

After photos, Angeline + Roman headed to the stunning Holy Family Church for their ceremony. It is truly a classic with architecture utterly to die for.

a fun-filled ravenswood event center wedding

When we met Amy + John last summer, we knew we were going to love working with them. I mean… look at those photos… you can tell they are having a blast and loving every minute! That, plus, getting to work in one of our fave venues with some awesome vendors – we’re in!

Amy + John’s first apartment was right by the Ravenswood Event Center, so after getting ready, they started the day with first look in their old hood. We love the photos under the “L” and at their favorite brewery, Begyle Brewing Company.

Amy + John’s ceremony was stunning under the huge windows of the Ravenswood Event Center and complete with flowers and an arch covered in lush greens from our friends at Pollen.

After the ceremony, guests headed downstairs for cocktails, dinner and some serious dancing! It was Amy’s birthday, so John and One Night Band surprised her with a special tribute. It was definitely the best birthday ever!

stunningly glamorous northerly island wedding

Go big or go home, right? Well, Liz + Mick definitely didn’t go home for their wedding last October. Hundreds of balloons, twenty-foot live trees and a bagpiper — and that was just the ceremony! Just wait till you see this one. It will blow your mind!

chicago wedding planner

Liz + Mick started their day getting ready at home surrounded by family and friends. Photographer extraordinaire Andria Lindquist captured each moment beautifully and then took some amazing first look shots on the rooftop of the couple’s Lincoln Park apartment. We just love that they thought of every little detail down to personal notes and gifts to each other that we’re sure will be family heirlooms one day.

From there, Liz + Mick headed to Covenent Presbyterian Church in Bucktown for one of the most beautiful ceremonies we’ve seen in a long time. With 20-foot live trees lining the aisle and a bagpiper leading the couple out of the church, this ceremony was definitely one the guests will never forget.

From the church, the couple followed photographers (Andria Lindquist Photography) and videographers (Orange Wedding Films) for some more amazing shots on the lakefront before heading to Northerly Island for a bang-up reception. You would never know from these gorgeous shots that it was freezing with gale force winds outside. Inside the tent was draped in ivory, lush greens lined the tables and chandeliers sparkled while the couple and their friends danced the night away.

a botanical-filled wedding at a new leaf

We just adored working on Steve + Amanda’s wedding last summer. One sweet couple plus one of our favorite venues equaled one perfect wedding despite the rainy day outside.

chicago wedding planner

Steve + Amanda started the day getting ready at Hotel Lincoln across the street and took their first look photos on the hotel’s beautiful rooftop overlooking Lincoln Park. Being the troopers that they are, then they headed out in the rain for some beautiful pictures in the park. They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. We think that’s because it creates some seriously gorgeous pictures!

While Steve + Amanda were off in the park, we were busy getting all of their little details in place and everything else ready for them at A New Leaf.

One of our favorites, Anita Vaughan, officiated the couple’s sweet, sentimental and perfectly personalized ceremony before everyone headed back downstairs for dinner, drinks and dancing.
