As we prepare for Indie Wed this weekend, we’re taking a look back at last year, when we put together Camp Indie Wed with some of our favorite friendors (aka vendor-friends)! It was so ah-mazing that we just had to share…
We just love a good outdoor wedding, so when Jenna + Max asked us to coordinate their wedding at Max’s family’s house in Wilmette, we couldn’t wait! Combine the most perfect, personal venue with some seriously awesome DIY details an amazing band and a fun-loving crowd and you have one of the best weddings ever!
What do you get when you combine fireworks, Camp Wandawega, a grilled cheese food truck, swimming, the biggest campfire you’ve ever seen, merit badges and old school games? The campiest weekend ever and Elena + Ken’s fourth of July wedding extravaganza!
Elena + Ken’s wedding was more than a wedding, it was really a weekend of fun and family reunion with all of their best friends at one of the best places on Earth: Camp Wandawega. The guests started off the weekend with old school camp games where they could win merit badges created by the couple. Throughout the day, everyone enjoyed breakfast on the hill, grilled cheese from the food truck for lunch and, of course, tasty beverages all day. We know, you wish you were there.
While the guests played volleyball, potato sack raced and practiced their archery skills, Elena + Ken headed into the cabins to get ready. You can’t help but love a beautiful setting like this for getting ready for your wedding day!
While the guests played and the couple got ready, we made sure each and every detail was in place from the mismatched chairs for the reception to the luminaries for late night shenanigans on the dock.
Of course, with Camp Wandawega as your backdrop Elena + Ken had to sneak off to get some amazingly gorgeous photos.
Finally the festivities begin with a super sweet ceremony overlooking the lake and a fun-filled reception followed by a bonfire of epic proportions!

When Laura met Laurie at an art fair in 2013 (and bought one of her beautiful Lake Michigan prints), she had no idea she’d end up coordinating her wedding a few years later or that she’d get to coordinate another wedding in one of her favorite places on Earth – Harbor Springs, Michigan. Get ready for a completely beautiful, handcrafted, labor of love. Strap on your seat belts, you’re in for an amazing ride…
Get ready for one of the sweetest weddings of 2014! Erin + Kevin’s were married at Kitchen Chicago and the party was nothing short of amazing, full of an insane amount of DIY details, tons of delicious food, and plenty of loving sentiments and tears of joy.
Erin + Kevin had big ideas and a lot of very specific things that they wanted to get just right. Their wedding vision was full of big ideas that took tons of blood, sweat and tears on their part to make happen. The best thing about Erin + Kevin was that they knew what they wanted and they were determined to make it happen. Starting with that dress…
For the ceremony and reception, Erin collected vintage vases and filled them with floral arrangements she and her friends created. Their wedding ceremony at Kitchen Chicago was super personal: officiated by their dear friends, the ceremony was sweet, sentimental and heartfelt, always the best start to a great wedding day.
For the reception, Erin + Kevin wanted an intimate, small affair, so we lined up all of Kitchen Chicago ‘s rustic farm tables and created one big long table in the center of the room. Lined with Erin’s handmade floral arrangements, candles, and gorgeous paper table runners, it looked amazing. For dancing, we moved the tables out of the way while Erin changed into another gorgeous dress transforming her into a BOMBSHELL if we’ve ever seen one! It pays to work at BHLDN when you’re a bride-to-be, that’s for sure!
To say Erin + Kevin’s wedding at Kitchen Chicago was full of love, life, and laughter is an understatement. Just looking at this couple makes us smile. Thanks again for letting us be part of your wedding day, Erin + Kevin!
