We just love a good outdoor wedding, so when Jenna + Max asked us to coordinate their wedding at Max’s family’s house in Wilmette, we couldn’t wait! Combine the most perfect, personal venue with some seriously awesome DIY details an amazing band and a fun-loving crowd and you have one of the best weddings ever!
When Laura met Laurie at an art fair in 2013 (and bought one of her beautiful Lake Michigan prints), she had no idea she’d end up coordinating her wedding a few years later or that she’d get to coordinate another wedding in one of her favorite places on Earth – Harbor Springs, Michigan. Get ready for a completely beautiful, handcrafted, labor of love. Strap on your seat belts, you’re in for an amazing ride…
Julia is one of our day-of coordinators, and her enthusiasm for parties and handmade details brought her to Anticipation Events. Her friend Katie loves ice cream, so an ice cream social was the perfect theme for her bridal shower.
She prettied up her backyard with roses and mint in vases hung from tree branches, and made huge crepe paper flowers to decorate the chairs (inspired by A Blissful Nest’s tutorial.)
She made five different kinds of homemade ice cream, with edible chocolate bowls and a chalkboard menu. (Beautiful Hello Blog has a great shortcut
for chalkboard lettering!)
The toppings and cupcakes were a hit, but…Not as big a hit as the ice cream! The bride-to-be showed off her ice cream expertise with this pretty sundae.
Julia used her collection of vintage pressed glass to serve sparkling pink lemonade and mint iced tea. A handful of paper straws and a vintage silver ice bucket finished the beverage bar.
The flowers were grocery store blooms with some stems and herbs from Julia’s garden. Mint and sage make great, sweet-smelling fillers! The hanging vases were empty glass baby food jars, wire-wrapped and hung from low-hanging crabapple limbs with ribbon.
The guests took home cake cones filled with Coldstone Creamery flavors from Jelly Belly, each topped with a huge peppermint meringue. Almost too pretty to eat!
Best wishes to Katie, thank you for sharing your party with us!
Britta + Ty were married in September 2013 at a private residence in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Some family friends live on a gorgeous piece of property that seems otherworldly, like you stepped into a magazine. With Britta’s great style (she owns Faithful Roots) a gorgeous setting and a wild and crazy bridal party, this was one of my most memorable weddings from 2013!
Lindsay + Bobby were married last August at Camp Wandawega in Wisconsin which in an incredible place to visit and a spectacular setting for a wedding.
With a wedding in Wisconsin, a planner in Chicago, photographer in Washington state and a bride and groom in California, it was a huge team effort to see this weekend of fun come together. Guests were invited to come for the entire weekend and many took advantage of everything Camp Wandawega has to offer: canoes were rowed, archery lessons commenced, s’mores were roasted and possibly a beer or two was drunk between old friends.
Lindsay and my taste are pretty spot on, so our collaboration was so easy right from the start. From their amazing invitation suite to all of the glorious DIY details, AE’s Facebook feed was blowing up all weekend long.
With ceremony music featuring Rogue Wave and Q Tip, and a gentle breeze of Lake Wandawega we were off to an amazing start.
The reception was rocking. Tons of delicious food served family-style, lots of home and locally brewed beers, dancing, doughnuts and a bonfire at the end of the party. Perfectly styled and completely in love. That’s how we like it here at Anticipation Events. So happy we were a part of this amazing day.
