styled shoot at thalia hall

So fun to finally get to share all of the pictures from this styled shoot we did at Thalia Hall before it was renovated and open to the public! An amazing crew of vendors pitched in to create one of my very favorite shoots ever. We coordinated and styled all of this amazingness, which I always find so amazing to see it all come together. Watch the video here and check out the feature on Burnetts Boards here.

gorgeous city wedding at chicago cultural center

Courtney + Mike were married in April 2014 at the Chicago Cultural Center. Being Irish and Catholic didn’t help their guest list numbers and they celebrated with 250 friends and family at the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and they partied all night long at the beautiful Chicago Cultural Center. chicago wedding planner

Courtney and Mike had a combined wedding party of 28 friends and family.  It was quite a group to coordinate but it had to be a blast to get ready with that many of your favorite people in one room.

My sweet colleague Katie at The Savvy Event planned with the couple and as their wedding day got closer, and she got further and further along in her pregnancy, she realized she needed to call in some back-up because it was a day FULL of running around. Laura, Julia and I all pitched in to help get set up and make sure everything was perfect.

I think I can officially say that Rockefeller Memorial Chapel is the most gorgeous chapel in the city and the detail shots taken at the Chicago Cultural Center were absolutely gorgeous. So many lovely details Mike + Courtney incorporated, proving you can make a large wedding personal and unique. Cake pop escort cards, tons of sweets from Sweet Mandy B’s, that gorgeous domed ceiling, late night food from three of their favorite haunts and then of course, the bagpipers showed up!

downtown chicago wedding at hotel monaco

Candice and Bill were married in June 2014 at Hotel Monaco.  The funniest thing happened at our final walk through, Bill looks at me and says: “I just have one more question: what happened when the hatch to the roof got thrown off of the apartment?” I had NO IDEA what he was talking about. It turns out that he was my landlord at my first apartment in Chicago and my jerk roommates broke a piece off of the roof (and then threw it off?!) He said I handled it well, and it’s a good reminder that this big city is really kind of small. And also that someday you might be planning your landlords wedding so you shouldn’t throw pieces of an apartment that doesn’t technically belong to you off your three-flat. He let us coordinate anyway and Laura killed it!wedding event planner

Hotel Monaco was amazing to work with and Candice and Bill were so fun. Candice was super easy to work with and incredibly organized, which always makes our job so much easier!

They even brought their pot-belled pig Rosie to cocktail hour for a little while.  If you’ve never oogled over a little pig in a cocktail dress, you really should try it sometime. She is adorable and Candice and Bill are crazy in love with her (and each other!)

They chose a bold yet classic color palette, they incorporated the things are are so very special to them, and then with a little help from their amazing band 16 Candles, they danced the night away! Truly the recipe for a great party and an amazing life together!

indie wed 2014 at ravenswood event center

The only wedding show we ever participate in rolled around last winter and we (per usual) stayed up all night putting the finishing touches on our booth. Indie Wed is one of our favorite times of the year because we get to see so many of our very favorite vendors in one place and get the chance to be creative with only the dimensions of our booth to confine us.

Laura saved the day when I was setting up and my giant, golden “P” popped.  Let’s face it, “Let’s Arty” just doesn’t have the same ring as “Let’s Party!”

destination wedding at st. john ultimate villas

Katie + Ryan were married in March 2014 at St. John Ultimate Villas.  They belong in a magazine, no? (Don’t worry I’m working on that.)  Katie, Ryan and about 50 of their friends and families hopped a plane in the middle of the Polar Vortex and then caught the ferry to St. John. Twist my dang arm.destination wedding planner

Katie and Ryan got married at the Annaberg Ruins, a sugar plantation named by the Dutchman who acquired it in 1758.  For the reception, they rented a house called Villa Kalorama which means “Beautiful View” and it was the perfect setting for their modern beach shindig.

The truth is, I adore this gal.  Way back in the day when I planned events at Shedd Aquarium Katie was the first person I ever managed.  I must have been 24 years old, and Katie right out of college when we stole her away to the events department.  She and Ryan were dating when I met her so it was only a matter of time before this day arrived.

When I left Shedd to travel and then started Anticipation Events, Katie was the first person I called when I realized I had enough clients to bring on a coordinator.  She is responsible for introducing me to at least three of the people who coordinate on our team now and at she sends more clients my way than anyone.

As any good planner would, Katie realized her want to take over and direct all weekend long so she brought me on to do that for her.  Katie’s a modern gal and she absolutely did not want a seashell and sand themed wedding so I brought the hammer and made sure she had an elegant, cohesive look to the day without going overboard.  I mean look at these surroundings.
