carnival chic wedding at salvage one

Francine + Dan were married in December at Salvage One and partied with their friends and family at their carnival chic reception. We had the pleasure of coordinating and styling their day and we brought out the big guns at this, our last wedding of the year.wedding day of coordinator

These gorgeous photos were taken by Anni of Anni Cee Photographie.  A year an a half before we collaborated on Francine + Dan’s wedding, Anticipation Events had the extreme pleasure of coordinating for Anni and her husband Ross at Salvage One.  It felt like coming full circle, and I love that I get to see her and work with her on the vendor side of things for many years to come.

We not only coordinated for Francine + Dan, but we helped them create a unique style for their wedding. Salvage One is so wonderfully eclectic that we were careful not to over-do things, but still wanted to create a whimsical story and space for their guests.  Handmade table runners to give each table a little pop of color, simple gold table numbers, old-fashioned Coca-Cola bottle escort cards, and rolls of vintage raffle tickets propped up flowers that Francine’s aunt brought all the way from California.  We hung metal hot air balloons whose baskets were filled with flowers above each table and I brought Julia and Laura help create a top-drop (like a backdrop, but over your head?!) of fringed crepe paper and cafe lights. I love how it turned out and the way it photographed!

It was our last wedding of the year and a fantastic way to end our best year yet.  We worked with the most wonderful vendors and had the loveliest clients.  And a little carnival chic never hurt anybody on a bright and snowy December day.  Congrats Francine + Dan!

loft wedding at bridgeport arts center

Audrey + Richard were married in August at Skyline Loft at Bridgeport Arts Center.  We were lucky enough to do a lot of planning with them, helping them book their vendors and thus making it a wedding full of some of our favorites!day of wedding coordinator chicago

Audrey rented a big house in the Gold Coast where all of her friends stayed for the weekend and all of the girls got ready the morning of the wedding.

Ryan took the whole gang downtown to capture some gorgeous photos before heading to Bridgeport.  I’m totally digging the lakefront shots and the ferris wheel!  Has Navy Pier ever looked so glamorous?  The answer is no.

My pals over at Asrai Garden created the most beautiful bouquets and gorgeous ceremony arch for the couple.

Sue over at Food Evolution coordinated the most gorgeous (and delicious) food.  Passed tacos for appetizers alongside mini-margartias in Patron bottles?  Genius!  Style Matters kept the dance floor packed all night.  Literally, even when the lights went on and the party was over, these guys were still on the dance floor singing their own music.

Audrey, Richard and their families were so easy to work with and fun to be around. From looking at venues a year before the big day to packing Audrey’s parents up in their car at the end of the night, they were so grateful and genuine and kind.  Putting together an amazing team of vendors with them and having them be so pleased with how the whole day happened materialized is one of my favorite things about this business.  A thousand good wishes and endless happiness to these two wonderful human beings.

meet me! i’m a chicago wedding and event planner!

I had the amazing opportunity to invite some wonderful ladies over one Saturday morning to chat about me and all of the various things I am working on. (I’m terrible at talking about myself and my work, I think, so it’s one of my goals in 2014 to get better at it!)

Kate and Alysse founded and run People with Panche, which is a blog that celebrates women with panache. They define panache as: flamboyant confidence of style or manner; reckless courage.  Which I love.  Totally love.  Reckless courage is my new favorite thing ever.  From their blog: “We believe in women, dreams and hard work.  We believe in sharing stories, finding inspiration all over the place and having fun like it’s our job.  We’re Alysse and Kate, and every Tuesday morning we’ll bring you new stories of young Midwestern women making their dreams come true.  These ladies are bringing their passions to life as their jobs, side projects and after-work hobbies.  We hope you find inspiration here and choose to do the same.”

We drank some coffee, I showed them around my apartment and we talked about all they jobs I have and why I am so happy having all of them.  And of course, Walter did a little growling made the photos a million times cuter.

city wedding at art institute of chicago + park hyatt

Pam and Ed were married in June at Art Institute of Chicago and had their reception at Chicago Park Hyatt.  I remember getting off the phone with Pam after our initial call and saying out loud “I want this wedding.”  Fifty-somethings, neither of whom had ever been married and then they flipping found each other.  How inspiring is that?  I loved it so hard and really was so, so happy to be a part of their day.  It was also completely hilarious that Pam kept saying it was the best day of her mom’s life because she was finally getting married. HA. Pam, you slay me.day of coordination

Pam and Ed had their ceremony on the Grand Staircase at the Art Institute of Chicago.  I had never done a wedding on the staircase there and it was so amazing.  All of the guests watched from above and it was such a cool 360 degree view.

My pal Janessa and her team at Forget Me Knodt made their visions of a forest in the city come to life. Pam and Ed are travel lovers and love to hike so they wanted to bring a touch of that into their sleek city venues.

Ed was the cutest groom. Not only was he heavily involved in the planning and production of the wedding day but he cared so much about all of the little details they planned and that all of their guests had a great time. I was downstairs setting up at the Chicago Park Hyatt that morning, and Ed came down to check on me.  We chatted about a few things and then he asked if he could borrow the dance floor. I set up place cards while Ed practiced his first dance solo.  He was so adorably nervous and wanted to make sure he nailed it.  And boy did they.  It was one of my favorite first dances to date.
